What is Different About Christianity?

Many people today claim that truth really does not matter. As long as what you believe “works” for you, it is true for you, and mutually exclusive beliefs can be equally true.

Christianity holds that we are born sinful, that Christ, who is the Son of God, died for our sins, and that if we have faith in Him, we will go to heaven. Islam teaches that we are born sinless and that we may go to heaven if we try our best to obey Allah. Islam even specifies that Christ is not the Son of God, and that He did not die for our sins. Hinduism says that trying to get to heaven is a waste of time; even if we were to spend some time in heaven, we would eventually be reborn on earth, because we are trapped in a seemingly endless cycle of reincarnation. Salvation, according to Hinduism, consists of escaping this cycle altogether.

Buddha did not claim to be God; Moses never said that he was Yahweh; Mohammed did not identify himself as Allah. Confucianism is a set of teachings; Confucius, the man, is not important. Islam is the revelation of Allah, with Mohammed being the prophet, and Buddhism emphasizes the principles of the Buddha and not Buddha himself. With Hinduism, there is no historic founder at all.

The New Testament equated Jesus as the creator of the universe (John 1:3), and that He is the one who holds everything together (Colossians 1:17). The apostle Paul says that God was manifest in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16, KJV), and John the evangelist says that “the Word was God” (John 1:1). The united testimony of Jesus and the writers of the New Testament is that He was more than mere man; He was God.

What the Good Wolf Brings You

You are ignorant in your unbelief; it is because you simply don’t know the truth. I know nothing of heart surgery; I am ignorant when it comes to heart surgery. We all fall ignorant somewhere, but what I share with you now is truth. I have personally grown to know this fact: Jesus Christ is the one and only LORD and by His mercy and saving grace, you can be saved for all eternity if you will admit that you are a sinner, repent from your old ways, and accept Jesus as your LORD and Savior, dedicating your life to Him. You will find a beginning. A beginning of Christian growth, and as your roots sink deeper into the fertile ground, your tree will take root and start to produce fruit. As you grow in your faith in Christ Jesus, your old self will pass away more and more, soon to become only a bad distant memory to gage contrast; a newness of life will take hold of you as it did Paul. Of this change, Jesus had this to say:

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”  (John 15:8-11 ESV)

This joy is available to you right now. Invite Jesus into your life, turn from any destructive behaviors, seek a body of nearby Christians, and tell them you wish to know more of the love that Jesus has for you. You must feed on this new found forgiveness and love, and battle against the old self. It is like the Two Wolves:

“One evening an old Cherokee told his grandchild about a battle that goes on inside people. He said, ‘My child, the battle is between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.’ The grandchild thought about it for a minute and then asked grandfather: ‘Which wolf wins?” The old Cherokee simply replied, ‘The one you feed.’”   (author unknown)

We all want what the good wolf brings to us. This goodness can only come from one source; it only comes from having a close relationship with Jesus Christ. This is the fertile ground into which you must plant your tree; get your nourishment here.

WHAT IS TRUTH?

Every morning I would open the garage door and there he was, that black cat! I knew he had my number for he was Satan himself! Yes, Satan in a black fur coat; no horns, just those pointed ears and those eyes. I swear I could see fire in the narrow slit eyes, calling me by name. You don’t believe me do you? That the cat was actually Satan himself, I mean. Well, everybody told me it was true, so it had to be true, everybody said so. The neighbors all agreed and repeated the mantra year after year after year; I knew it had to be true! Based on this truth that Satan was the cat, I decided to live my life knowing that every morning that black furry Satan would visit me. There was absolutely no doubt about it. He was indeed Satan himself!

How many times have you run into people with strange ideas and wonder how could they possibly believe that way? It happens all the time, especially with politics and religion. People simply will buy into the craziest notions, maybe because they want to, maybe due to a pervasive charismatic leader. I used to work with a person who firmly believed and was extremely critical that Republicans were for massive big government when it is actually a proven fact that the opposite party, her party, is the one promoting that direction. How did she get so far off the mark? Who does she listen to?

The “unwilling to think, non-listening, all about agendas…screw the truth” types simply will say anything they want to, distorting the truth, and their sick followers come along lapping up the poisoned milk. Oh, speaking of lapping up milk, that black cat, remember “the Satan cat”…it is just a story to prove a point we all know is true. Say something often enough however and it then becomes the truth no matter how false it truly is. Can I really be certain that the cat is not Satan after all? What if…?

The truth is, Jesus the Christ was a faithful Jew who had a habit of attending Synagogue and reading Scripture. I have no doubt that Jesus Christ is the Messiah and that we are to follow Him. Nothing else in all of recorded history has been so scrutinized, researched and proven by physical discovery than this fact. Many Jews, after 2,000 years, are still looking for the Messiah and will disagree with me, thinking that I am wrong. That is okay; firm in my faith, as a Christian, I support my Jewish brothers and sisters; and I pray that one day the vale will be lifted and we will all be one Family of God. The theologically blind don’t know they are blind, as a fish doesn’t know it is in water.

Search for REAL Truth – Just Because your Agenda Creates a Belief Doesn’t Make it True

Let’s “piggy-back” upon my last post and continue our study in “what is truth” as the sin of the global hoax of man-made climate change is revealed. An area of change in “what is truth” over the centuries is the link between cosmology and theology. Stay with me on this bit of history for it reveals how agendas create a made-up belief which then becomes truth for a group that they then hold to the death.

Aristotle (384 BC – 322 BC) was a Greek philosopher, a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander the Great. He with early theologians said the Bible tells us the Earth is at the center of the Universe and it is the sun that moves around the Earth. This thought was widely accepted and preached for centuries. There are indeed Old Testament Bible verses that speak to this concept, as follows:   Joshua 10:12, 13; Psalms 93:1; Psalms 96:10; Ecclesiastes 1:5; Isaiah 60:20; and Habakkuk 3:11.

Great thinkers such as Plato, Aristotle, Ptolemy, and much later in the 1600’s one Tycho Brahe all subscribed to the Earth being still in the center of the Universe and said it was truth. The Catholic Church subscribed to this notion to the point that people were killed and imprisoned for not believing this theology during the Inquisition. The first real serious challenge to the geocentric model of the Universe didn’t come until much later with Nicolaus Copernicus (February 19, 1473 – May 24, 1543), who never worked full-time as an astronomer, yet being the first astronomer to formulate a scientifically based heliocentric cosmology that displaced the Earth from the center of the Universe. It was his life’s work. His book, “De Revolutionibus Orbium Coelestium” (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres), is thought to be the starting point of modern astronomy and defined the beginning of the Scientific Revolution. Copernicus suppressed publication of his findings because of fear of being killed for his writings, which went against the powerful Catholic Church all right, but some believe he was actually more fearful of other scientists treading on his work. When Galileo Galilei wrote a book in 1610, “Sidereus Nuncius” (The Starry Messenger), that presented his research made with the new telescope, and proved the radical Copernicus right. This caused such an uproar that in 1616, the Copernicus book was banned by the Catholic church, as was anything that took away from “the Aristotelian fact” that the Earth was indeed the center of the Universe. Galileo was ordered to Rome to stand trial on suspicion of heresy in 1633, “for holding as true the false doctrine taught by some that the sun is the center of the world”, against the 1616 condemnation of Copernicus. Even though some Church Astronomers duplicated Galileo’s research and showed him respect, the Catholic Church just couldn’t take scientific proof that seemed to go against the Bible.

There are those people with their own agendas that push the reading of these types of Bible verse way too far; God also created a brain for us to use, and they simply need to use theirs. Today, there are still those that believe in the geocentric model of the Universe, even though we know that Copernicus and Galileo were right, and of course this fact does not diminish the Bible’s Truths whatsoever. Why, there is even a “Geocentric Bible” written by Gordon Bane, using King James text, and based on a 1992 book called “Geocentricity” by Gerardus D. Bouw, Ph.D. and published by The Biblical Astronomer in Cleveland, Ohio.

Concerning the Catholic Church’s Galileo heresy trial in 1633, “for holding as true the false doctrine…”, we saw on January 17, 2008, a Wall Street Journal story where Rome’s Sapienza University silenced & censored Pope Benedict XVI because 20 years earlier he had said he would have supported the 17th century heresy trial against Galileo…so much for free speech and free thought at a university…there is definitively something bazaar about all this mess!
