Open Your Eyes to See Wonderful Design, Part 2

The debate over a fundamentalist view of creation and the anti-theological evolution view has become so stagnant and stale that people now pay no attention to the facts. So blinded to agendas, they close their minds and eyes to actually see truth; they seem to all miss the actual physical evidence. Can we stop with all the emotion? I honestly am trying to break the blindness and the unthinking-rigidness of each side’s deadened concrete argument. One only has to look at the beauty, design and coloring of a “Wood Duck” or the “Mandarin Duck” to know that what I say is true…these creatures did not evolve from slime to  become ducks of such unbelievable indescribable beauty? Take a look at the detail, the coloring, the rhythms, and the mathematical order in these beautiful creatures. These “works of art” just didn’t evolve one step at a time, from one specie to another to another; no, the “Wood Duck” and the “Mandarin Duck” are exquisite examples of God’s poetry! There is not one single reason you can give me to “explain away” why the coloration, the shapes, the design details of these two magnificent creatures. God is the Creator and perfect Designer…period!

God created each individual animal species and called it good. As an architect who understands form, design, composition, symmetry, color and aesthetics; it is impossible to look at the wonderful designs in nature and believe they evolved from something else as simple happenstance. The sooner scientists look through the eyes of a Christian at God’s creation, the sooner the great evolution debate will disappear. The “Wood Duck” male’s beautiful coloring may provide attraction to the dull-looking female Wood Duck, but pattern, delicate detail, symmetry, shape and rhythm are not necessary for sexual attraction. A simple mass of color for the male would attract the dull female in most bird species; design would have nothing to do with it. If design details had anything to do with sexual attraction, then the “Mandarin Duck” would have all the female ducks, for no duck can out class it’s design and coloration. The beautifully designed feather patterns have nothing to do with the duck’s survival; it is all about God smiling, having fun creating a wonderful composition, and saying “it is good”. Our Creator God loves to create! Forget your preconceived notions about the ordinary and start looking much much deeper.

Each work of creation must reflect a part of the Creator; It is the nature of creation, whether it is an artist, a sculptor, an architect, a musician, filmmaker, writer, or God. Part of the creator is found within the creation, within the created item. When you look at the beauty on this planet, be it a person, a sunset, a flower or a “Mandarin Duck”, what do you see? Do you see something that has evolved from something else lower than itself, while the creator sits on the sidelines with nothing to do? Or do you see a planned work of art, an individual creation from the Great Creator God? The sooner you see each part, created by God, “individually” one at a time, as an important part of the whole masterpiece, the sooner you will respect other life found in the people and animals of this planet.

Open your eyes to see God’s wonderful design, Part 1

Butterflies! Do you take these insects for granted? How close have you ever looked at one? Do you see only flying insects from worms, or beautiful works of art? There are 140 different kinds just in Minnesota; why? Why the variety? The evolutionist would say there is “mimicry’; that is, the reason the “Monarch” and the “Viceroy” look so close to each other is because they wanted to confuse the birds. Can’t you just hear that Viceroy’s conversation? I imagine it this way: “Let’s see, I have a choice in my evolution, I can be like the “Tiger Swallowtail”…no, I saw those birds eating one of those guys the other day, but I did notice they didn’t eat that “Monarch”…that’s it, I’ll be like the “Monarch” so I’ll have a long life.” How insane the evolution argument is!

It is the design and coloring of most butterflies that impresses me; as an architect, this is available visual proof of a wonderful God designed creature. Look close, notice how accurate the mathematical designs of butterflies are; there is no serendipity here, a Masterful Designer plans these wonderful flying works of art. Why would evolution have symmetrical wing colorings? Symmetry of design is not needed for flight or survival or mate attraction. The evolutionist would have you think that coloring is for hiding, blending into your surroundings; this is true in some cases, some moths look just like tree bark, but this argument certainly does not apply with most butterflies. These same evolutionists would also have you think that brightly colored bodies are for mate attraction. I could go with that reasoning if it weren’t for the intricate details and the symmetry. Google a photo of this Black Swallowtail. Note the symmetrical faded shading toward the body and note how black the outer forward wings are, absolutely no shading at all. Note the small yellow patch (some have orange spots) in the alignment with the body axis, and how the white arcs are of equal number, size and all pointing toward the head. Can you really tell me with a straight face these “works of art” evolve over time from some lesser species? Nonsense! I invite you to look up a photo and study the detail within the circles of the “7 Circle” Butterfly, note the color shading within the wing and how the edges are detailed. Then study the “Eastern Tailed Blue” which has an outrageously wonderful blue wing that is outlined in black and then in light blue with a few balanced black and orange dots along the back edge. An evolutionary process would never add the dots to the outline. Now, study the “Buckeye” Butterfly’s wings, the coloring, the balance, the symmetry. First study the six circles, the outlining of each, the blue and the symmetry of size. On the lower wings, look for the red arcs highlighting the large circles and angled toward the insect’s head. Note the scalloped play of color banding along the trailing edge of the lower wings. Study the way the white coloring is distributed and the little dash of yellow under the upper wing’s circle. Check out the two orange black-edged bars at either side of this magnificent creature’s head. All showing a wonderful balance and symmetry; you never hear the evolutionists deal with symmetry because they can’t, and so goes their one-sided agenda. None of these design details is necessary to attract a mate, camouflage itself from predators, or otherwise help the creature to survive. So you think this is simply happenstance? Does a design of this wonderful detail just happen on its own, or is this the wonderful creation “hand-crafted” by some Master Architect? If you have been able to set aside your bias and your built-in agendas on the ridiculous blinding evolution argument to actually study these works of art, you can only arrive at one conclusion…there is no evolution going on here, only a Great Creator God at work and having unbelievable fun doing it. Yes, God definitely has fun creating; He did it and said it was good. There are numerous other designed masterpieces we can point to; I invite you to open your eyes up and look closer, much closer, closer than you normally view such things and see a wonderful world unfold. Then, why don’t you sing praises to the Author of our creation?

Entropy, yes it is still a proper argument!

If you have studied the arguments of the creationists and the evolutionists, then you have heard the word, entropy. I claim that many scientists like to redefine entropy. They discount its importance in the argument of evolution because they don’t like what “this science” does to their other scientific beliefs. While it is possible to see new definitions arise from new discovery, I say one should not spin arguments and create justifications just to make you look good. You should also not ignore truths that just so happen to not support your current position. Where is the honesty in that? Two Merriam-Webster definitions for entropy go like this, tell me which one you prefer, the broad definition or the detailed one:

“the degree of disorder or uncertainty in a system” [a broad definition] and “a measure of the unavailable energy in a closed thermodynamic system that is also usually considered to be a measure of the system’s disorder, that is a property of the system’s state, and that varies directly with any reversible change in heat in the system and inversely with the temperature of the system” [a detailed definition]

In recent years, many Christians have started jumping on the “entropy bandwagon” in their drive to argue against evolution. This creates a large target and a need for the opponents in the argument to fight back. They now claim that entropy has noting to do with systems simply moving toward disorder. Rather they “muddy the water” by branching off into discussions on macro verses micro; or “closed” systems (ones that don’t interact with anything external to it, no heat flow in or out of it) verses “open” systems (all living organisms) verses “isolated” systems (no loss or gain of heat). Their argument branches off to how the levels of sunlight striking the earth make the whole Christian argument false. To make matters worse, the various science disciplines involved in thermodynamics, namely biology, physics, and the physical sciences, often fight among themselves accepting and rejecting definitions that suit their sectional arguments. Frankly, definitions are what is believed or known at the time. In the arguments I have studied involving “closed” verses “open” systems, and “reversible” verses “irreversible”, it is said that the earth is not a closed system because solar heat comes into it and some re-radiates out; but the universe is a closed system. I never see any discussion involving “scale”. At what scale is a system closed or open? Looking at entropy as a measure of disorder, we can view “macroscopic” (an environmental level) or “microscopic” (a system level). Doesn’t the scale, the extent of the boundary of the open system qualify it to be a closed system after all?

So why is entropy so important? I hope, I haven’t lost you yet. Hang in there with me and you’ll see my Christian brothers and sisters. Soon you’ll realize the importance of entropy to your theology. I’m afraid some of you will not wish to follow these scientific discussions, so I must repeat myself and tell you: This will help you and your theology if you’ll grasp this short little science lesson. This is good stuff; I’ll try to keep it light enough to be interesting, yet not heavy enough that you’ll feel ready to duke-it-out with an astrophysicists.

The 1917 Moscow born Dr. Ilya Prigogine won the Noble Prize in Chemistry for his work in irreversible thermodynamics. He was the first to apply thermodynamics to the study of irreversible processes. Dr. Prigogine, who died in 2003, said that physical systems tend to slide spontaneously and irreversibly toward a state of disorder, an increase in entropy. The Second Law of Thermodynamics tells us that with real irreversible processes, entropy is always greater; and an example of real irreversible processes would be plants, animals, humans, in fact, all living things.

The Third Law of Thermodynamics tells us that entropy, as a measure of disorder, increases with increasing temperature. In 1878, Marcellin Berthelot, a French Thermodynamicist, and Julius Thomsen, a Danish Thermodynamicist, stated that every chemical change proceeds in a direction that will produce the most heat. Therefore, entropy or disorder increases as chemical change and heat increase. These thermodynamic “laws” are not just some opinion from a scientist, but are “rules of the universe” that have stood the test of time over many decades of scientific scrutiny and by which the whole universe obeys.

So…there you have it! Science tells us that all living things are systems of real irreversible processes, involving chemical changes and heat increase, that move along toward disorder over time. Please, read that last bold sentence again… This is exactly the opposite of what the evolutionists preach. The theory of evolution would have us believe that the world has been evolving for millions or billions of years. Moving from a beginning state of disorder and chaos (with a great deal of chemical process and solar heat I might add) and move toward a state of order, the perfect design of a human being. There is no way the marvelous machine we call the human body, this marvelous machine has evolved over millions of years from some simple one-celled organism.

Why do I care? Why push my belief the theory of evolution is false? Why not just sit back and believe what I want to, and let others believe what they want to? Simple, God’s creation is most beautiful and perfect; it is mankind that messes it up. Maybe if more people saw the love God has for each of us, and that we are wonderfully and marvelously created to be in relationship with our Creator; then maybe, just maybe we wouldn’t work so hard to destroy one another.

The Relationship between Creator and Creation

It is a God given wish of all humans to create, yes, I mean each and every one of us. Why? Because it is a reflection of you; we all wish to leave a mark, part of you ends inside that creation.

There is an inner spirit in each of us, yes each of us, created by God and in His image and character. Besides the Holy Spirit, this other inner spirit is the creative “juice” that will move to do creative things. I like to call it “juice” because it (whatever “it” is) this creative essence in each of us, “flows”. You can feel it when it is moving and you know when it dries up. Haven’t you heard an artist say things like, “I don’t have it anymore” or “nothing was coming to me”? Every artist has a dry period; a period when the “juice” is not flowing. The juice hasn’t dried up forever, gone and never to be experienced again. No, the juice is still within you; it has only ceased to flow at that given time. It is best to just get up and do something else for a time. When the juice is flowing, you can do amazing things. Michelangelo’s statue of David can be carved out of a rough block of marble. Frank Lloyd Wright’s house, called “Fallingwater” in Bear Run, Pennsylvania can be designed. Leonardo Da Vinci’s 16th Century painting of the “Mona Lisa” and Shakespeare’s play “Hamlet” can all be created out of nothing, ex nihilo baby!

Every time you read a novel, a poem, a sonnet, a play, any literary work, you have revealed something of whom the writer is and about their life. You can see that Michelangelo understands human anatomy when you view his drawings, such as the portion of the Sistine Chapel ceiling called the “Creation of Man”. Most architects display “their style” to the point that a person can view a set of buildings and place the architect’s name beside each one. In the created object, there is indeed part of the creator.

When we view God’s creation, we see part of God. Our Creator, the Lord God Almighty, will move His creation toward higher order through relationship. This is why He created us. He loves us! He wants to see us grow toward completeness, just as we delight in seeing our own children grow toward completeness, and become fine adults. How many parents have looked out from the audience at the school awards ceremony, to see a child receiving an award, and think “I had something to do with that…I sure am proud!”

A sense of completeness and relationship, we each seek this “reward of living”, much more important than money. So it is with God, and this is why He created you and I. He seeks out relationship with us; God desires to look at us and say “well done my good and faithful child, I am proud of you and I love you so very much”.

Some would say that God has no need of us. I think just the opposite. Why? As an architect, I know about the feelings between a creator and his creation. I know there is a “relationship” with the created object; after all, as discussed earlier, the created object is actually a part of the creator. God delights in creating; we are all created in His image. You don’t create and then destroy a masterpiece. Oh, you may experiment, realize it isn’t working, and then start over, drawing on your newly acquired knowledge of what works and what doesn’t. But you don’t destroy your final masterpiece; you work to save it. God is reaching out to you now; salvation can be yours.

What we need is a new way of seeing our world!

Have you becomed bored in the “Grand Debate”, generation after generation, between Creation and Evolution? Are you tired of hearing about all “this and that”…the whole thing becoming so very muddy…that you just don’t know which side is right? I don’t blame you, however, if you have become tired of the whole thing, then you are like an Ostrich with your head in the sand, and that can hurt you. I believe that both sides have fueled the apathy in the matter and that adds to your fall. Your fall, yes your fall, into “relativism” where our world has gone. It can be an eternal fall, but there is hope to avoid this.

This “Grand Debate” war has been raging for so long, that each side in the debate has been able to retreat, regroup, and invent new terminology several times; so in turn to drop the next bomb on the other side. The result of this nonsense is to completely muddy the water, build defensive walls so people stop listening, and keep the un-intellectual, unable to learn and or understand, completely in the dark. Unloving activity in turn sponds apathy, unbelief, and a complete diversion from actually “seeing” who God really is.

The book “I Am, the Great Creator God” breaks through the dense fog on both sides of the arguement and teachs you how to see and understand who God really is. Scholarly researched, written in “normal everyday” language, orthodox and soldily supported, the book will cut through all the retoric and present a clear solid position you can stand on. Why not at least check it out by looking at the free downloadable brochure, Table of Contents and Introduction found at Muskrat Books…just a little Google away. Blessings, hold your head up for God loves you!

Why this book is different:

“Looking” is a matter of perspective; to grow you have to open your eyes to a different way of viewing the facts. “Growth” is like a staircase; to get to the top, you must simply take one step after another. At each step, you will have the ability to see things at a higher level, a higher perspective…differently. Today many of the “arguments of the ages” have become tired and boring to people because they are at the base of the stairs and only hear the same arguments repeated. Is that going to be the end of our growth? People dig-in to defend “their turf”, without any vision, in the serious arguments of: does God exist, the creation of mankind, the Big Bang, evolution, nature, the Doctrine of Election, predestination, miracles, and time. They don’t have a clue that they are starting at the base of the staircase, and there is so much available that will enrich their lives. What then is to be OUR next step? This book is not just “the next step”; oh no, it is a quantum leap forward!

A quantum leap forward maybe a bold statement, but it is honest. The reason this book is different from the others that search for truth, or deal with theology & cosmology, is that it shows a person how to look differently at the world and universe around you. The answers to their questions, the questions of wars, and the questions of the ages are right in front of you.

New Book on the Scene

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – Muskrat Books would like to announce the publication of a new book for those seekers of life’s great questions and their meaning. Do you wonder about who God really is? Are you seeking real answers to the creation of the universe? This book is a must read for those wishing to really understand the whole Biblical creation and evolution argument; and wishing to see revealed the God-Designed and God-Created Universe.

Steeped in 2000 years of solid Christian Orthodoxy, this book is not “New Age” or some other cultic mish-mash. The purpose of this book is to present a different way of viewing the world and the universe, and to encounter this wonderful loving gracious God of the universe, the I Am, the Great Creator God.

The reason this book is different from the others that search for truth, or deal with theology & cosmology, is that I Am, the Great Creator God shows you how to look differently at the world and universe around you. The answers to your questions, the questions that tear apart religious denominations, and the questions of the ages are truly right in front of you.

Have you ever expressed any of the following questions: How did the universe start? How will the universe end? What existed before the stars? Does your life have any meaning? Does God know me and care for me? What was God’s first gift to the world? Is God still involved with both Mankind and Creation? Can you believe in the Big Bang and still be a Christian? Find answers in the book, I Am, the Great Creator God.
