Be Thinking – Not Following

Are you surprised like I am that so many seem to puppet other people’s agendas? Rather than think for themselves, they seem to follow blindly the pack, like Lemmings, following the cow trail. Have you seen a cow trail? For such large bulky animals, their path is very narrow and tight; formed by one animal closely following the other…one after another…so many as to curve a rut in the earth. I am amazed how people, when faced with true facts (not spin), will stand firm on their made up erroneous platforms. Can we not be thinkers anymore? On most campuses of higher education, you are shouted down and sometimes expelled by having a different opinion from the masses, and yet these are the areas in our culture screaming diversity at the top of their lungs! I invite you to check out Thomas Sowell’s May 1, 2013 article entitled, “Is Thinking Obsolete?”.

I am pro-education…that’s “education”…not “indoctrination”. Shamed by “do it for the children”, we keep applying more and more tax-payer money to education and get poorer and poorer results. “Zero tolerance” is an excuse for not thinking; what are we telling our young people by this terrible example? We are producing more Lemmings! By non-thinking, we have allowed the suspression of speech by “political correctness”, which serves only to remove our “common sense”. So, is it any wonder why our government doesn’t work anymore? So, is it any wonder why we no longer have a “media watch-dog” anymore? Except for a few in the media, condemned by the mainstream, our media simply promotes the current indoctrination verse of the day.

In an environment such as this, is it any wonder why many are questioning the reality of Jesus Christ as Savior and King? Is it any wonder why our culture is more concerned over celebrating alternative lifestyles than it is protecting the unborn children? Be “A Different Kind of Tree”; be about Christian growth from “dry dead-wood” to a healthy strong caring benefical “tree” rooted in Christ. We need healthy growth in our world…though it takes more work, let’s be healthy thinkers and not simply followers of the dead-wood.

Will Your Tree be Different in 2013?

We Christians often will say that Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and rightly so, for He is! But in addition to this truth, I would like for you to try something this new year. A saying you probably have repeated before, but I wish to challenge you to say it everyday this year and mean it; don’t just repeat empty words but concentrate on each simple word: “This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!” What if you started everyday with this statement before you got out of bed, and then lived the day in rejoicing God’s creation and creatures? What a difference your outlook would be! How much different would your speech be knowing you are talking to one of God’s creations? Whether they know or believe in God doesn’t matter; the Creator still loves them and so should you. Would your morning commute be more friendly? How much better could you cope with life’s problems knowing that YOU are a blessing from God? We all have problems, but knowing that the day was a gift to YOU from God should make a huge difference to you! Know that you are loved by God (John 3:16-18)! Sing out everyday inspite of those nay-sayers all around you, “This is the day that the Lord hath made, let us rejoice and be glad in it!”

Guns are not the problem, it is the heart that is!

What have we learned from Newtown’s tragedy? …and from the many other attacks such as the recent attacks on volunteer firemen and police officers that put their lives on the line for us? Many have learned nothing! NOTHING!! We currently have the diversional debate of gun control which will only bring much more death! The national media doesn’t have a clue or they simply chose to ignore the facts. Most of all the school shootings have been in gun free zones while so-called assault rifles were banned. In 2011, rifles accounted for less deaths than hands & feet! Worldwide and in the USA, the facts are that murders actually rise when guns are removed from law abiding citzens; the proof is available, look beyond emotions for truth. Don’t you fall for the trap of gun control; it is NOT about guns but about control over the people. The whole mess is a diversion over the real problem; it is a problem of the heart. Why would all these evil people (yes, I said evil people) why would they take innocent lives and then kill themselves? Why not just go kill themselves if they hate this world so much? They don’t kill themselves over their remorse for killing the innocent…they have no remorse! Their hearts are hardened. Satan drives hate and creates evil; it is the evil within that kills the innocent. These killers have only hate and their easiest mark is upon the innocent. It is a darkness over the land. Hitler took out the churches, removed the guns, and then took over the people in mindless hate. I fear we are on the same path! We are busy to bring down the Christian, to remove our only Savior Jesus Christ, to remove the law-abiding guns to protect us from evil man and government, and then to teach all to hate various societial groups in a stew of class-envy. It is all sinful and very ugly! We will be doomed if we don’t turn back to Jesus Christ, the Way, the Truth, the Life and the Light of the world! At Christmas time we should be about welcoming the Chist child who came into the world as Savior to show us the way back to God; He, a sinless man, who took our sins and made them His own that we might become righteaous to come back to God. Any deviation from this very path is THE REAL PROBLEM.

What is this "Different Kind of Tree"?

“A Different Kind of Tree” is a book about life. It is a book about how and where you get nourishment; a book about where you have planted your roots and what fruit you bear. Everybody bears fruit; the only question is: Is your fruit good or bad? Is what you do of a positive impact on others or is it of negative impact? This book is about growing in the LORD, if you love the world and it’s evil, you are not in the LORD (1 John 2:15-17); it is about the decisions you make in life. Each Chapter starts out with a portion of my true life story because this book is also about “the journey”, my journey through the bad, the ugly and the good. It is about my journey out of darkness toward Christianity and becoming a true Child of God.

Young people – death is real, it is not a video game!

Dear Lord please comfort those hurt and suffering loss in Colorado this day! 14 innocent have been killed and many hurt while attending the new Batman movie! The youthful killer, decked out in body-armor like in some violent movie, acted for 20 minutes dropping tear gas and shooting the innocent, like he was racking up points in some bloody video game. To blend in, it started during a shooting scene in the movie. At first attendees thought it was part of the show…they expected the violence…but certainly not all real…and this was VERY REAL! Life and death is real; this is not some electronic game…push a few buttons and it is over! Memories of these events are NEVER over! Murdered people have families that love them and have dreams for thier lives. What are we becoming as a society? The ugly insane coarseness of our language! The sloppy way of dressing! The destruction of the body through piercings, tatoos, huffing, and drugs! Violent music! Violent video games! The ugly actions of  6 to 30 year olds upon their peers! The bullying! It is all related together! With the break down of the family, our morals, our integrity, our honesty, we have created generations crusted-over with a shell of deadness! …all the while, our society continues its work to remove God at break-neck speed! Oh, and it will break us alright…is that what you want? Pray and work to change our direction for the sake of the children…and my grandchildren!

Where do you stand?

Jesus tells us the “Parable of the Sower” in the Synoptic Gospels:

“Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away (Mark 4:5-6 ESV).

Fire is coming from those haters of Christianity, seeds not in the good soil of the Bible will be scorched and perish. Where are you? Are you standing on rocky ground? If the answer is yes, then turn toward Jesus, the Great Creator God.

A Day of Prayer – A life of Prayer

Congratulations to Texas Governor Rick Perry and the 30,000+ people who participated in Day of Prayer event called “The Response” at Reliant Stadium in Houston on August 6, 2011. They prayed for our country, the President and all the other leaders. This was a very good thing to do and follows the pattern set our country’s founding fathers. We Christians are called into a life of prayer, and it is obvious that this Day of Prayer was not “a campaign prop” as some critics have voiced about Governor Perry; this is a solid man of prayer. Secular critics, not wanting to simply be quiet since they dislike having this event, have heaped criticism by saying: 1) they “excluded non-Christian faiths”…hey, it was a Christian event! They don’t say those things about an Islamic event; and 2) they “blended politics and religion”…hey, our country was founded exactly that way, a blend of politics and religion! and 3) they “blurred the boundary between church and state”…hey, there is no such boundary and no such thing as “separation of church and state”. There is only an “establishment clause” that says the government shall not establish a church or religion. It is shameful that this false argument still gets some attention and reinforcement when it is absolutely a complete non-issue. Regardless of your particular religion membership we should all be about sharing our planet together, talk to each other with quiet integrity and honesty, and show a loving compassion to others. That is what I heard from Governor Perry’s Day of Prayer event called “The Response”; it should be all of our response as well. It is what we believe!
