Well, America’s Presidential Election Day will soon be here. Daily, new proofs of corruption at the highest levels come out. I am completely dismayed that with all our resources for goodness in this country, that we have the two awful candidates we have. One is not a politician; they also said that about Reagan, but he is no Reagan. The other, experienced in politics, has seen many other politicians and military people “crash and burn” for far less than what she has done.
The fact that she just may win this election and that 47% of the country cheers for this candidate causes me to reflect on a lesson most of us received as children. If you eat rotten fruit, you will get sick.
If you hang around a tree that produces bad fruit, you too will become sick. Luke chapter 6, verses 43 through 45: “No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.”
I might add to the verse…that the mind thinks what the heart is full of. When you go to vote, will you vote your heart for a chance at goodness (maybe, God willing), or does your heart long for the tree with bad fruit?
