In Romans 2 verse 28 we read that “a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly”, and then in verse 29, “a person is a Jew who is one inwardly”. I wish to replace the word “Jew” with the word “Christian”.
Are you a Christian in name only? What are your actions? What is your speech? A true Christian is one inwardly; it is a matter of the heart. Some say it is the brain that controls, but I say it is the heart controls your tongue and your actions.
The coarseness of today’s speech in our everyday conversations, in our music, and even in our advertising is sinful. Our speech impacts how we treat one another. Our speech is controlled by our hearts. Our hearts also control our writings. We all know of the filth that can be found, published within so many areas of our society these days. Those upset over some tragic event will in turn spew hate-filled writings all over the Internet. We have greatly moved in the wrong direction…some use the phrase “slippery slope”…my friends, we are way down that slope. I would ask you to step outside your present reality and look from above; as on a mountaintop, one can always see better from a higher vantage point. What do you see?
