The Bible is Truth, Unchanged for 4,000 Years!

What is truth?  It is what you think is at the time you think about it.  Who hasn’t thought one way only to change their mind and think a different way…I call that “growth”.  But some thought processes have massive impacts on millions of people; fear often is used to control large groups of people.  The question then re-emerges…What is the real truth?

I don’t want to debate these issues but I wish you to simply reflect on the following 5 actually published items:

“Because of increased dust, cloud cover and water vapor, the planet will cool.  The water vapor will fall and freeze and a new ice age will be born,” Newsweek magazine 1979. “The world will be 11 degrees colder in the year 2000.  That’s twice what it would take to put us in an ice age.”

“By 1985 air pollution will have reduced the amount of sunlight reaching Earth by 1/2…Air pollution is certainly going to take hundreds of thousands of lives in the next few years alone,” biologist Paul Erlich (1970).  In 1973, he also went on to say 200,000 Americans would die from air pollution and that by 1980 the life expectancy of Americans would be 42 years.

“By 1995 somewhere between 75 and 85% of all species of living animals will be extinct.” Senator Gaylord Nelson.

Fast forward 34 years and we see in 2007, a United Nations panel, which groups 2,500 scientists from more than 130 nations, predicted more droughts, heatwaves and a slow gain in sea levels that could continue for more than 1,000 years even if greenhouse gas emissions were capped.  John Coleman, founder of the Weather Channel, wrote in 2007 about global warming, it is the greatest scam in history.

Then only 1 year later: February 26, 2008, Global wide cooling, steep declines in World Temperatures according to the Hadley Center for Climate Prediction. Twelve-month long drop in world temperatures wipes out a century of warming. Over the past year, reported evidence for a cooling planet has exploded.

So what’s the point you may ask…I only wish to bring up the question for us to ponder: What is truth? Ask yourself, what is it that I believe and why.   Are you on a sound foundation? Are you willing to bet your eternal life on it?

We all have differing views on things…that is okay and it’s healthy. One truth that brings Christians together is the Truth that we all hold to, which is the love, grace and forgiveness we find in our Savior Jesus Christ. We believe in Jesus Christ as the Truth, the life and the resurrection!

But what if you had to go speak to a group that had the complete opposite view on what the truth should be? How would you go about that?  Would you be apprehensive?  Would you doubt?  Would you be fearful?  Here is where we find Moses…
