Knowing Who Jesus is, is Not Enough

If you are not searching for Jesus Christ, then you will never be a real Christian; you’re a Christian in name only, like belonging to a club. Anyone can sit in a church pew, but are you transformed by what you hear? Knowing Holy Scripture is not enough and knowing who Jesus is, is not enough. Satan and his demons know who Jesus is and what the Holy Scripture says; the question to ask yourself is: am I transformed by the Holy Spirit to put Jesus Christ first in my life above all else?

“You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!” (James 2:19 ESV)

The world, presently ruled by Satan, certainly tugs at us all. If Satan isn’t tugging you, then Satan already has you tied up. If you are struggling to follow Jesus, just persevere through the rough roads and go around the road blocks; Satan is trying to stop you. Jesus wishes for relationship with you, that is why He, a sinless man, took your sins and made them His own so that you might be saved into His family. Jesus would not give His life for you and then turn his back on you later! The difficulty you bare comes from Satan and those connected to him.

“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” (John 17:14-16 ESV)

Satan’s tugging comes in the form of wild, sexy advertising that shows you what you should want to have to be happy; therefore if you don’t have that beautiful woman or all that wonderful stuff then automatically this barometer means you’re not happy. Envy and jealousy kills.

Satan’s tugging also comes in the form of numbing chemicals and drink; it is the enticement of escape from your present situation. The all-encompassing desire to have a vacation is the same thing as a drug; it is escape from reality. Hey, my wife and I love to go to the Colorado Mountains: Telluride, Durango, Estes Park, it just doesn’t get any better. But, you won’t find us going into debt to go. Satan’s tugging makes you go into debt to escape. I’m referring to that crippling desire, above all sense, that you must have that vacation, money or no money, so honey…we’ll just charge it. It is all gambling with your money or with your life. Satan makes us think we need escape because that means our present reality isn’t worth two cents. When our two daughters were in high school – an independent school which cost thousands to attend – my wife and I went 13 years without a vacation; our daughters’ education came first. It’s about priority. To whom do you grant your highest priority? If you are a Christian, it is not yourself.

Satan’s tugging comes in the form of peer pressure; this probably is the most often used, yet weakest of the blame-game excuses. Satan’s tugging is always present to those who blame others for their lack of fertile soil. Jesus, who came for all peoples, has prepared your place and it is there for you if you simply ask Him to show you the way. Go off by yourself, forget any things you need to do, no sounds, no outside influence, lower your defensive self-preservation walls, and pray: LORD Jesus, I want to know you. I want You to control my life, my thoughts, my actions, so I here and now dedicate myself to You and believe that You are my LORD and Savior; please enter my life and make me whole for I believe that You are the Preexistent Christ, the Living Son of God.

You can do this. Doubts are about confusion and Satan is the master of confusion. Believe and the Holy Spirit will start to fill you and nourish you as you will now finally start to truly grow and produce good fruit. It’s the fertile soil, baby!
